Open Text Corp. Thursday said AFLAC Inc. has chosen its knowledge management
solution to improve relations with customers.

What the supplemental insurance provider won’t say is how much money it will
dish out for Livelink, Open Text’s flagship product. AFLAC chose Livelink as
an intranet tool to manage and store copious information generated by its
employees throughout the company.

“In the past, people who controlled intranet content had to submit it to a
Web administrator. But now, users simply add a version to a document and
their content is available online instantly,” said Jennifer Pitts, vice
president, director of information
technology, AFLAC. “Livelink also facilitates document searches by enabling
users to associate metadata with documents.”

AFLAC hopes Livelink will help employees improve service for its 40 million
supplemental insurance customers. Providing workflow capabilities and
immediate online access, Livelink delivers product introduction
documentation in real time to AFLAC’s sales force of over 29,000 independent
contractors in the U.S.
