Reuters, Fulcrum Target Asia Pacific Intranet Market

Reuters and Fulcrum Technologies announced today a
co-marketing agreement under which both companies will promote one
another’s intranet-based knowledge management offerings to customers in the
Asia Pacific region.


Reuters Business Information Products (BIP), applications designed to
enable enable users to retrieve news, company information, or financial
datat via corporate intranets, will be integrated with Fulcrum’s Knowledge
Network knowledge management software for added functionality.


“We are very impressed with Fulcrum’s technology and marketing
capabilities. Offering integrated access to the right data is critical to
the success of a corporate intranet,” said Mark Trasenster, managing
director, Reuters BIP, Asia.


“The initiative we will be pursuing together enables us to provide superior
solutions for the corporate desktop. Both Reuters and Fulcrum realize the
importance of the intranet to the future of corporate knowledge management.
The need for structured data solutions in information retrieval is
colossal, and we are committed to making this regional collaboration a
success.”


International Data Corporation (IDC)
predicts the number of Asia Pacific region companies using intranets will
increase to 50% by the year 2000. A 1997 IDC survey revealed that only 8.7%
of the companies in Asia
Pacific have installed an intranet system.
