Rocket Buys IBM Product Line

Rocket Software, of Natick, Mass., has bought a business intelligence product line from IBM , of Armonk, N.Y.

The applications, sold under the name Visionary, give users a customized graphical views of business data. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“By adding the Visionary software to our technology base, we expect to significantly enhance our existing offerings,” said Andy Youniss, Rocket’s president.

Rocket is currently enrolling customer in testing programs for a new version of the product, scheduled for release in September. Enhancements will include Java
World Server, along with new OLAP functionality, and connectivity packs for support of DB2 and Informix databases.

Current Visionary customers will receive support from Big Blue under existing agreements. Those users may upgrade to Visionary V3 at no charge upon renewal of
support agreements.

Rocket has been developing software for IBM since 1994 and employs 150 people at its headquarters and branch offices nationwide. The privately held company
was founded in 1990.

In addition to business intelligence develops relational databases, mobile and wireless computing, and network management applications for its OEM clients.
