Dallas, TX-based Sterling Commerce Inc. outlined a
new e-commerce infrastructure strategy, adding Internet data exchange and
extranet systems management software to its current advanced file transfer
and remote systems management solutions.

The company said a need has arisen for new management solutions that are
built from the ground up to work over the both the Internet and intranets that automate and
simplify the management of e-commerce applications.

The company said its data exchange solutions for the Internet provide a
non-invasive method of securely exchanging business information between
applications, not just node
points within a network.

The new extranet systems management solutions provide management capabilities
such as software distribution, asset and configuration management and content
distribution, the company said. These capabilities enable companies to
monitor the health and availability of applications and data files for
communities both inside and outside the corporate firewall.
