UUNET, MCI WorldCom’s Internet services division, Wednesday unveiled its new fully managed intranet/extranet solution, GroupHost for Lotus Domino.

Now available, Group Host offers global enterprises the ability to outsource Lotus Domino operation management, reduce costs, speed market time, enable worldwide access, and receive 24-hour support.

GroupHost is available packaged with networking and managed security services. UUNET’s GroupHost uses a dedicated Compaq server, continuous proactive server management and monitoring, nightly backup services, Lotus Notes and simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP) mail services, private/extended Notes domain; and Internet domain name services (DNS).

Companies can access GroupHost from a virtual private networking,
frame relay or the Internet. Besides offering access and infrastructure support, GroupHost also enables businesses to better manage Domino resources with a new administrative interface, AdminAdvantage. Administrators can use AdminAdvantage to access enhanced features, such as end-user registration, group management and online performance reporting.

Administrators can employ a new Web-based registration tool, allowing end-users to register themselves and set up direct billing for vendors, business partners and other end-users.

“With the expanded capabilities of the recently combined division, we are
excited about the possibilities,” said Joe Mclaughlin, vice president of Lotus’ strategic alliances group.

“Lotus and UUNET are extending the enterprise. Home office users, field
sales, vendors and business partners will all benefit from the extended
global reach and enhanced support offered by GroupHost,” Mclaughlin said.
