Communications manufacturer VTEL Friday unveiled three
new products enabling businesses to conduct high-quality video conferencing
sessions over intranets and the Internet.
line.

MCS/IP and Gateway are local area network servers designed to enable
businesses to conduct multipoint, multimedia conferencing. The company’s
Gatekeeper application works in conjunction with the conferencing system to
control access and bandwidth usage.

Company officials say the products are designed to cater to a market that
is expected to grow dramatically in the coming years.

“Internet Protocol is an emerging market which makes the timing ideal for
superior networking products like VTEL’s new line,” said Stephen L. Von
Rump, VTEL’s chief marketing officer.

“Video, voice and data communications over LAN and Internet/intranet will
be very robust in the next couple of years. VTEL has the products designed
for the multipoint calls and networks of today and the future,” he said.

The new products are scheduled to debut by the end of October. Pricing was
not disclosed.
