A Done Deal in Denmark

Continuing a push into Europe, Ticketmaster is acquiring BILLETnet, one of the leading online ticketing companies in Denmark, from Post Danmark A/S. The move follows on the heels of similar expansion efforts in Norway and the Netherlands.

Los Angeles-based Ticketmaster , which is majority owned by USA Interactive , said more such acquisitions are likely as the company plans to grow in Europe “organically.” Financial terms were not disclosed.

BILLETnet has been serving the Danish market since 1991, selling more than two million tickets annually. Copenhagen-based BILLETnet currently represents more than 100 theaters, and 450 sporting and music venues.

A Ticketmaster exec said that the company intends to put in a full complement of Ticketmaster’s technology offerings to bolster sales at Danish retail ticket outlets, on the phone, at the box office and over the Internet.

Ticketmaster’s European ticketing effort includes operations in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway and now Denmark. The company acquired Ticket Service Nederland B.V. , a leading live event ticketing company in the Netherlands, last June, and Norway’s Billettservice AS in October of 2001.
