Access Idaho Takes Home Award

In an age when e-government is the talk of the town, our neighbors to the east, usually recognized for their potatoes, are catching attention for their governmental presence on the Web.

The official website for the State of Idaho, received the prestigious Eagle eGovernment Leadership Award from the Council of State Governments during the association’s annual meeting.

Idaho’s website was chosen from a field of 200 applicants as the “MVP — Best All-Around State Government Website.” The award was presented to the State of Idaho, the Idaho Department of Administration, and Idaho Information Consortium, Inc., a subsidiary of NIC, which operates the government portal on behalf of the State of Idaho.

“There’s an advertising slogan that says you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression,” said Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne. “The same is true for eGovernment, where the first impression you make is your Web portal. Our portal is first-rate — Access Idaho is a major step forward in Idaho’s strategic pursuit of developing eGovernment applications to make state government more efficient, effective, and user-friendly for our citizens.”

The CSG Eagle eGovernment Leadership Award program presents two national awards each year to state governments that demonstrate best practices in delivering government services via the Internet. CSG chose Idaho’s site based on its cross-agency integration, navigation ease, transaction processing capabilities, and overall effectiveness.
