AOL Canada Team Expands

[Toronto, ONTARIO] Canadian subscribers aren’t the only interactive service enthusiasts being added to
AOL Canada Inc.’s growing kingdom.

An operator of two interactive online services catering to the Canadian marketplace, AOL Canada has
announced that Steven B. McArthur, who, since July 2000 has served as president and chief operating
officer of AOL Canada has been appointed chief executive officer. As president and CEO, McArthur will
be responsible for the company’s overall strategic direction and management.

McArthur succeeds Stephen J. Bartkiw as president and CEO. Bartkiw joined AOL in 1995 to launch the
AOL Canada brand and has spent the past five years building the AOL Canada brand into an
ever-expanding Internet online service.

In addition to the appointment of McArthur, AOL Canada has also expanded its corporate marketing
team with the addition of Catherine H. Pearce as vice president of marketing. C. Ian Hembery, who has
held the dual position of vice president of marketing and government relations, is taking on the new role of
vice president of government relations and communications.

As vice president of marketing, Pearce will lead AOL Canada’s marketing strategy and execution of all
marketing programs. And as vice president of government relations and communications, Hembery will
now focus entirely on government, community and public relations.
