Redmond-based Applied Microsystems Corp.began shipping its new PowerTAP emulator and MWX-ICE debugger toolset for Motorola MPC8250 PowerQUICC integrated communications processors.
Applied said it is the first embedded tools vendor to deliver harware emulation for Motorola’s MPC8250. PowerTAP II is a next generation PowerQUICC II-specific tool that integrates MWX-ICE, a robust C/C++ symbolic debugger with a networks, high-speed in-circuit emulator (ICE). Applied said the PowerTAP toolset provides a robust, crash proof environment for emulation, testing and debugging during board bring up and board support package development.
“Motorola’s PowerQUICC II processors are used in highly complex and demanding systems, including branch office routers, xDSL aggregation equipment, enterprise routing systems, cellular infrastructure equipment, and metro and long-haul optical systems,” said Keith Cheney, director of strategic marketing for Motorola’s Networking and Communications Systems Division. “These systems call for a robust toolset capable of providing crucial system visibility and excellence in complex emulation, debug and test. Applied’s PowerTAP delivers the feature set that PowerQUICC II system developers can count on to expedite their test and development and get their products to market sooner.”
