AT&T Corp. announced Monday it will invest $60
million for a minority stake in Tellme
Networks Inc.
.

As part of the strategic relationship, AT&T will provide a
family of advanced networking services for
Tellme, an Internet startup that aims to combine the power of the Internet
with the convenience of the telephone.

The companies are collaborating on developing business and consumer
applications based on Tellme’s Internet platform that will be
delivered over AT&T’s network. As part of the agreement, Tellme has access
to networking management,
Internet hosting and professional services.

The service, which is currently in early trial with nationwide coverage,
allows users to dial a toll-free number and, through simple voice commands,
connect with online services.

AT&T’s infrastructure gives Tellme an instant way to bring the benefits
of
the Internet to every consumer and business user, said Rick Roscitt,
president of AT&T Business Services.” Combining the intelligence of our
network combined with Tellme’s capabilities is a natural for us. We are very
excited about this relationship.”
