One of Australia’s largest banks announced it will offer digital
certificates to its customers in a first for the Australian banking
industry.

According to the National Australia
Bank
, digital certificates will be used to create an additional level
of security for customers using its Internet banking service.

The certificates–equivalent to electronic signatures–will be
encrypted, effectively preventing unauthorised access from any other
location as they will be assigned to each customer’s personal computer.
