AvantGo Ships Mobile Sales App

Jul 9, 2001

AvantGo, Inc. (Nasdaq:AVGO) said Monday that it has started shipping a sales force automation
application for Palm, Pocket PC and RIM BlackBerry devices.

The company said its AvantGo Mobile Sales application is its first packaged mobile software. The
company is best known for being an information portal for handheld and wireless devices.

“Our goal is to package the knowledge and experience that we’ve gained with our existing
products and services into a shrink-wrapped software application that plugs and plays with
existing sales automation applications,” said Richard Owen, AvantGo’s CEO.

The applications enable sales personnel to use their handheld or Net-enabled phones to view
and update information from well-known customer relationship management (CRM) applications
such as those from Onyx, Oracle and Siebel Systems, the company said.

Besides enabling access to CRM data, the application supports alerts that are pushed to the
device about customer interactions.

The company provided no pricing information.
