BOL Powers Into Switzerland

Swiss ISP Blue Window and Bertelsmann‘s online bookshop BOL this week agreed on an e-commerce partnership.

The scope of this venture extends far
beyond anything currently existing in Switzerland, according to company
sources. Exact details have not been revealed by either party. It is not,
however, an exclusive agreement and does not involve participation in the
other partner’s business.

BOL wants to use the provider’s Bluewin portal to advertise new products
releases and hopes to increase its branding amongst these customers. Blue
Window is interested in increasing the attractiveness of its portal and
improving the range of services on offer.

Financial details are still largely unclear. It is assumed that Blue Window
will be paid a commission on books sold on its platform. BOL’s main
competition Amazon.com is already present in the Swiss market with a country specific site.
