NorthWord A/S, a Danish company that helps Web sites make their content accessible in foreign languages, was acquired by Bowne Global Solutions, a division of Bowne & Co., New York, NY.
Bowne Global Solutions specializes in localization of software, CD-ROM, and technical documentation. It currently has offices in 18 countries, including Thailand, China, France, the U.S. and Finland. NorthWord, based in Copenhagen, Denmark, develops software that gives Web sites a multi-lingual option; it has adapted Web sites to appear in Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, English and Dutch.
Bowne, a leading financial printer founded in 1775, is in the process of acquiring Donnelley Enterprise Solutions. When that acquisition is completed, Bowne will be one of the largest providers of data-management outsourcing services in the world.
“The focus on Internet, software, and telecom found in the Nordic countries makes this a key market both for servicing our existing customer base and for expanding our offerings into the Nordic markets themselves,” said Claudio Pinkus, chief executive officer of Bowne Global Solutions.
