In an apparent attempt to garner broader
acceptance of Microsoft-based handhelds against
lower-priced Palm OS devices, Compaq (NYSE: CPQ)
released Monday a monochrome version of its iPAQ
Pocket PC.
The company said the $349 iPAQ Pocket PC H3150
has the same features as its H3100 Series of color
handhelds.
The display shows 15 grayscales, comes
with 16MB of RAM and uses a 206Mhz Intel
StrongArm processor. The device supports expansion
via standard PC Card and CompactFlash options.
The company also rolled out a series of related
options, including a foldable keyboard for iPAQ
handhelds.
