Computer Sciences Corp. has won an $11 million, five-year contract with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) to provide e-learning programs and knowledge support. The contract was awarded through ANSWER, a a broad multiple-award contract sponsored by the General Services Administration in 1998.
Computer Science’s Training Center of Excellence will support the contract. The center, which is an ISO 9001 certified customer training product organization, specializes in knowledge support system solutions, and designs and develops training products.
Under the task order, which expands the El Segundo, Calif.-based CSC’s seven-year relationship with the USDA, the company will provide project management, analytical and technical assistance to the USDA’S Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
APHIS is responsible for protecting and promoting U.S. agricultural health, administering the Animal Welfare Act and carrying out wildlife damage management activities. In recent years, the scope of APHIS’ protection function has expanded and the agency has assumed a greater role in the global agricultural arena, responding to other countries’ animal and plant health import requirements and negotiating science-based standards.
“CSC’s experience and our history of providing operational results for the USDA showed that we could help APHIS meet its knowledge management and e-learning support requirements,” said Dale Luddeke, vice president for CSC’s Resources and Environmental Services organization.
