Leading comparison shopping service
DealTime.com has launched
its UK site.
In the U.S., DealTime.com had over 2.3 million unique users in
November,
making it the top service of its kind. The new service in the UK will allow
people to search hundreds of UK merchants for the best prices in pounds
sterling.
DealTime.com says it plans to open additional sites in France, Germany,
Japan and Latin America during the next year.
“DealTime.com’s technology was built from the very beginning with global
expansion in mind,” said Dan Ciporin, CEO of DealTime.com.
“Our database infrastructure is highly scalable and easily supports dynamic
currency conversions and multiple languages. With this foundation, we were
able to extend our services to the UK market in just a few weeks.”
The features that will available in the UK are the same as those
on the U.S. site, including instant search results, the ability
to track deals over time, and notification of deals via
pager, email or the vendor’s own Desktop Notifier.
Competition is heating up in the comparison shopping market, with
this week’s announcement that bottomdollar.com has joined the
ShopNow Network. As a result,
ShopNow will able to offer its visitors 28 shopping categories, over
40,000 merchants, millions of products and services, and a
wide selection of business-to-business e-commerce solutions.
All the comparison shopping companies will find Europe attractive,
as according to UK research firm
Fletcher Research it now has
38.2 million Internet users, rising to 84.3 million by 2002.
