Excite Australia Makes its Debut

In the first of a series of planned initiatives, the recently formed
Liberty One/Excite Inc. partnership Wednesday launched Excite Australia.

Tim Burgess, vice president of Excite Asia Pacific, said excite.com.au will play a leading role
in providing Australian users with personalised news, entertainment and
information needs.

“Our product allows users to tailor the Internet to meet their information
needs,” he said. “As such, we are confident of building a loyal base of
users who will return to Excite every time they access the Net.”

Excite Australia has established a content agreement with Equity World, who
will provide real time stock quotes, ABIX business news, company profiles
and historical charts. In addition, content has also been licensed from
Australian Associated Press (AAP) for domestic, international, sport,
entertainment and business news.

Seek Communications will provide career and job search information and the
Bureau of Meteorology will provide comprehensive local weather information.
Other content providers include ZDNet Australia, SofCom, iMovie and Looksmart.

Excite Australia’s search functionality will offer language-based and
regional searches with over 800,000 unique Australian URLs.

The company has lined up 12 sponsors for the project, including ANZ, Optus,
Intel, travel.com.au and Fairfax Online.
