Excite@Home has appointed a new managing director
to head up its European operations. The new man is
Evan Rudowski, a 12-year Internet veteran who joined
Excite as its 45th employee in early 1996.
Excite Europe Ltd. is headquartered in London and runs
portal sites in
Germany and
France, and search
sites in the
Netherlands and
Sweden.
Excite UK
is a separate company, as is
Excite Italia.
Evan Rudowski will report to John O’Farrell, senior
vice president, international, of Excite@Home.
“We are committed to support Excite’s rapid expansion in
Europe and Evan’s new role will be crucial in helping to
make this growth a reality,” said John O’Farrell.
“Evan’s Silicon Valley expertise coupled with strong local
teams will further strengthen our position across Europe.”
Excite’s European ventures continue to pick up awards,
with Excite UK being named ‘Best UK Search Engine’ by
“the net” magazine in August 1999, while a similar award
was made to Excite.de for “Best German Search Engine,” by
“connect” magazine back in April.
Rudowski is expected to take Excite into new
European markets as well as develop existing sites.
