Fleet National Bank, part of FleetBoston Financial , has unveiled new software that provides
government clients a dashboard view of their accounts and the ability to produce custom reports.
Fleet DataExcel was developed by Evare, a Burlington, Mass., firm specializing in applications for banks, brokerages and
institutional investors.
“Government entities have a number of special, often legally required, reporting needs,” said Fleet’s John B. Robinson. “(The product) will fundamentally
transform the turnaround time of report preparation and financial information dissemination.”
Other features of Fleet DataExcel include: display of Fleet and non-Fleet accounts; data downloads into formats such as Microsoft Excel; and security measures like
physical signature verification, data encryption and digital certificate technology.
“Fleet DataExcel provides Fleet with a means to cement a strong relationship with its customers via the Internet,” said Joan Perz, Evare’s CEO. “The
service is a solution to the transaction consolidation dilemma that has long plagued financial professionals.”
Evare, which is privately held and founded in 1996, did not disclose its fee for the software project.
FleetBoston Financial is the seventh-largest financial holding company in the United States. Shares of FBF were off 0.35, or 1 percent, to 36.25 at midday. In the
