France Telecom recently acquired
a majority stake in RapidSite France,
a Web hosting service catering to small and mid-sized companies.
RapidSite France is a division of RapidSite Inc., an American Web hosting
tools provider. Under terms of the agreement, France Telecom Sites (FTS), a
Web hosting subsidiary of France Telecom, will take a 75 percent stake in
the RapidSite France. No financial terms were disclosed, but the acquisition
is expected to close in January. The combined companies will now host an
estimated 22,000 sites.
Rapid Site’s electronic payment solutions will be incorporated into FTS’s Domicile suite of business products and
services.
“France Telecom Sites will benefit from our experience,” said Loïc Le
Meur of RapidSite France. “. . .It’s a plus for everybody.”
