Search engine vendor Google Inc. said Wednesday it has released wireless search technology for users of i-mode wireless Net-ready phones.

The technology, released in Japan, enables i-mode users to search and browse more more than 1.3 billion Web pages, the company said. When a user finds a traditional HTML Web page, the technology automatically translates it into a format optimized for i-mode.

The search engine is available at http://www.google.com/imode.

In addition to its own search site, the company also provides a variety of Web search technology to OEMs and other vendors. It claims its technology serves more than 70 million searches a day.
