House Panel Chair Takes On Wireless Sector

Fresh on the heels of an ominous rulemaking notice coming out of the Federal Communications Commission, the wireless industry is now facing scrutiny from Capitol Hill, where a prominent Democrat has announced plans to broaden his investigation into billing practices in the sector.

Specifically, Dennis Kucinich, the Ohio Democrat who chairs the House Oversight Committee Subcommittee on Domestic Policy, is concerned that the service agreements subscribers sign preclude them from filing suit, appealing or joining a class-action suit. Enterprise Mobile Today has the story.


It’s been a rough week in Washington for the wireless industry.

First the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission was rattling his saber about cracking down on wireless billing practices, and now a prominent House Democrat is pledging to expand an inquiry into the methods carriers use to collect unpaid bills from subscribers.
