[February 8] Internet Initiative Japan Inc. [QUOTE Nasdaq:IIJI] Thursday announced that it acquired a contract from At Home Japan Co., Ltd., a group company of Excite@Home in the U.S. and one of Japan’s largest CATV networks, for broadband connectivity to the IIJ backbones.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
IIJ and @Home Japan also expects to link @Home Japan’s network with the HSMN, one of Japan’s largest broadband platform built and operated by the IIJ group.
“HSMN already links more than a dozen CATV and other network operators nationwide, and also offers data center services to content companies, providing platform services for the optimal transmission of various types of network content,” said Koichi Suzuki, president and chief executive officer of IIJ, IIJ said in a statement.
