[Sydney, AUSTRALIA] Youth-oriented multimedia
entertainment property terraplanet.com has acquired
Sydney-based digital imaging bureau Purescript, in a move to expand its
internal capabilities.

Purescript will be added to terraplanet’s existing imaging arm, and the
site will use the purchase to boost its skills in manipulating digital
content across print and narrowband, broadband and wireless Internet.

The acquisition aims to capitalize on what terraplanet sees as a
migratory trend in the imaging industry, according to managing director
Lesa-Belle Furhagen. “We see the imaging business moving to a growing role
of content manipulation across all multimedia forms,” she said. “Being able
to control the digital manipulation of that content enhances its value.”

Terraplanet aims to build on its eight year old database of digital
content, including text, images, sound and video, by using Purescript’s
digital imaging technology to improve potential earnings for the content
and broaden the mediums across which it can provide content solutions.

But the imaging business is only part of the carrot for terraplanet.
Purescript also has Web hosting facilities that will fall under the
multimedia provider’s control with the purchase, which can house its
network of sites that include youth-targeted magazine site juice.net.

Purescript is terraplanet’s second purchase, after it bought Australian
Style magazine following its list on the Australian Stock Exchange.
