Informix Enters Indian Internet Market

In line with its new Internet strategy, Informix International plans to launch two Web-enabled database solutions in the Indian subcontinent by the end of the next quarter.

The launch of these two products marks Informix’s entry into the Indian Internet market.

Revenue coming from the new Internet solutions is expected to contribute 15 percent to the company’s overall turnover.

According to Informix, these new products, i.Sell and i.Reach, are the
outcome of its new initiatives on the Internet and e-commerce fronts. These solutions are focused exclusively on delivering industrial strength and database solutions for the Internet.

The company’s entry into the Internet domain is the result of its recent acquisition of data warehousing solutions company Red Brick Systems.

i.Sell enables businesses to merchandise their products, handle a massive data number of transactions, and collect and analyze customer data to customize each customer relationship and improve profitability.

“Informix i.reach, a corporate Web site solution, helps in eliminating the Webmaster bottleneck by enabling content owners to easily publish and maintain their own content, reducing the cost of maintaining new sites tenfold,” said an official. “i.informix, the company’s new Web/e-commerce
division, will distribute the fixed price, completely one-stop-solution through authorized Informix systems integrators.”

Informix i.Sell, an electronic storefront solution, integrates database and application server technology with e-commerce software tools, consulting and services to provide a complete, rapidly deployable e-commerce solution.

Unlike its worldwide distribution model which involves both direct and
indirect modes of distribution, Informix in southeast Asia will adopt a 100
percent indirect distribution model through systems integrators.

In order to build up its channels base, the company is on the look-out
for systems integrators who are national or regional
integrators who have core competency in Web content.

Meanwhile, in order to enable real-time payment processing, Informix and
CyberCash, an e-commerce payment technologies and services company,
have announced the integration of CyberCash’s CashRegister payment
service to the Informix’s i.Sell e-commerce solution.

According to Informix, the combination of these two will enable
e-commerce sites to deliver secure and stable online transactions to
their customers.
