INT Media Group, Inc., on Wednesday announced 802.11 PLANET, the world’s first trade show focused on the business strategies associated with the IEEE’s 802.11 wireless standard sometimes known as Wi-Fi.
The event, which is scheduled to take place at the Santa Clara Convention Center on Oct. 2-3, marks the return of INT Media CEO Alan Meckler and his management team to the trade show circuit. The team created the Internet World series of trade shows.
“802.11 and all of its tangents are set for explosive growth. It is the leading broadband wireless technology that’s connecting
people to the Internet in the workplace, at home and on the road.” Meckler said in a prepared statement. “Up to now, one can find parts of 802.11 covered by various wireless events across the USA, but nowhere can one find a single event that is 100-percent focused on this dynamic business. We are filling this void for the marketplace.”
Since the sale of Internet World to Penton Media in 1998, INT Media (then known as internet.com) did not operate in the trade show space.
“INT Media Group has successfully launched several seminar programs in recent months in addition to the recent acquisition of its Intermedia Group events unit,” stated Meckler. “Now we are moving into the trade show arena and will offer our millions of unique visitors and e-mail newsletter subscribers original online content, through both free and premium subscription services, along with a variety of complementary offline events focused on the Internet industry and IT.”
In addition to the launch of 802.11 PLANET as a trade show, the company also announced the launch of its Web site by the same name – http://www.80211planet.com.
“The combination of the Web site, our over 500,000 daily wireless channel page views and the new trade show are a winning formula for success in the 802.11 information field,” added Meckler.
