Two of Intelius‘s founders said they have successfully defended themselves against a lawsuit by their former employer InfoSpace .
The decision was delivered in King County Court in Seattle. InfoSpace was also ordered to pay attorneys fees, according to Intelius. An InfoSpace spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
InfoSpace had alleged that Intelius’ CEO Naveen Jain and CTO Kevin Marcus possessed proprietary information or trade secrets that would enable the to compete unfairly with it.
Previously, Jain founded InfoSpace in March 1996 with a plan to deliver information on the Internet – anytime, anywhere and on any device. While there, the company went public and compeleted 24 acquisitions. Until late April, Jain still held a seat on InfoSpace’s board.
“We are pleased with the outcome,” Jain said in a statement. “This will allow us to continue to focus on building Intelius into a successful, profitable business.”
Intelius was founded in January by Jain, Marcus and former executives from Microsoft. It has three product lines: an online public records search engine; a secure identity management system to block identity theft; and software to organize homeland security data.
The privately held company is based in Bellevue, Wash., as is InfoSpace.
