As you might imagine, one of the chief topics overheard among attendees
at this weeks Internet World in Los Angeles has been the battering
Internet stocks have taken in recent weeks, especially since Monday.

Well, the Nasdaq appears to have gotten off the canvas, posting a strong
gain Thursday. As of Friday morning, the Nasdaq was up at 4370.4, or
just 4.4 percent below last Fridays close.

Still, thats a far cry from early March, when the exchange topped to
5,000 mark for the first time. Friday mornings price is about 12
percent below that record number.

If youre attending the show and are interested in how several
investment professionals view the shifting (or crumbling, if you are a
bear) Internet stock landscape, as well as the latest from the venture
capital scene, there are four panels sessions scheduled Friday that you
wont want to miss. All are being held in room 515A at the L.A.
Convention Center.

And if you arent at the show, Ill give you the highlights on Monday.

Internet Stock Report Senior Analyst Tom Taulli kicks things off with a
10 a.m. session on the hows and whys of Internet stock valuations.

At 11 a.m., Ill be moderating the Internet Start-Up Live! Venture
Showcase, a session featuring four start-up companies presenting their
business plans to a panel of venture capitalists.

After lunch, theres a 1:45 p.m. session led by Joel Maloff, president
of Maloff Group International, on how to negotiate with venture
capitalists who want to take over — oops, I mean “fund” — your start-up.

And at 2:45 p.m., Ill be moderating a panel called “Internet Stocks:
How To Make a Killing Without Being Killed.” The panel will feature
insights from Robert Burgoyne, technology strategist at Monument Funds
Group; Debbie Simon, vice president of Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin, a
Los Angeles investment bank; and David Eisner, CEO of iExchange.com, a
stocks-related site.
