  • Earthlink Network (NASDAQ:ELNK) gets upgraded to “outperform” from “market perform” from Everen Securities which rated the Internet service provider on valuation and short-term attractiveness.

  • Security Dynamics (NASDAQ:SDTI) revenue for 1997 jumps 62% to $135.9 million while net income, not including non-recurring items, increases 79% to $23.0 million ($0.58 per share on a diluted basis). Non-recurring expenses of $7.4 million from merger acquisition costs and purchased technology. The sale of marketable securities offsets charges somewhat and brings net income to $15.6 million ($0.39 per share on a diluted basis).

    Fourth-quarter results are $39.7 million revenue, up 50% vs. 4Q96. Not counting non-recurring items earnings reach $7.1 million ($0.17 per share on a diluted basis) vs. $4.4 million ($0.11 per share on a diluted basis) 4Q96.

    Reported 4Q97 net income is $3.3 million ($0.08 per share on a diluted basis), which includes a one-time charge of $3.0 million ($1.9 million after tax). Now we wait for SDTI to lead some sort of consolidation parade. Check Point Software anyone?
