  • AOL (NYSE:AOL) plans to sell majority equity in a new entity that rolls its AOL France and (pending) CompuServe France into a larger online service with 200,000 users. The venture combines Bertelsmann, Canal+ and Cegetel Internet services under the AOL banner.

  • Quarterdeck (NASDAQ:QDEK) reports its first quarter fiscal 1998 ending December 31, 1997 revenue is $20.6 million, vs. $24.4 million 1Q96. Net income hits $316,000, or $.01 basic earnings per share, vs. $20,000 1Q96. Working capital increases to $17.9 million from $10.9 million. Quarterdeck may not be out of the choppy restructuring waters yet but the net income seems to show signs of expenses coming under control. Now we’ll see if revenue grows again.
