  • Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO) gets a “buy” rating from DLJ which starts coverage of the stock and $150 per share target price. Even after all the hoopla here comes another tout for the leader in content aggregation. We also hear that Morgan Stanley iniated coverage of YHOO. Of course that’s two years after Internet Stock Report started covering it.

  • CNET (NASDAQ:CNWK) shows gains on expectations of earnings that may arrive in fourth quarter and the launch of a co-branded investment news service with Bloomberg. We think Bloomberg eventually could acquire CNET if this date to the prom means anything. Bloomberg needs Net credibility and CNET needs cash, lots of it.

  • Sportsline (NASDAQ:SPLN) gets coverage from Salomon Smith Barney which starts coverage with a “buy” rating and $46 per share target price. For those readers who’ve been with us, SPLN was one of the ones we picked to watch in 1998 on Dec. 31, 1997 when it was $10.75 per share. SPLN closes at $37.1875 per share today.
