Market Guide (NASDAQ:MARG), a financial information provider on the Internet, now provides AltaVista Search Services new Finance Zone with a feed and screening tool. We think AltaVista is playing catch up in the destination space as its rivals have all become channels and online services. Digital/Compaq should perhaps spin this out via IPO like Digital planned to long ago and use the working capital that results to find a niche for this powerful search service. We estimate AltaVista as a firm could fetch a $325 million valuation in an offering and maybe $35 million working capital.
