  • EarthWeb files to go public, wants to raise $34.5 million. The developer-centric Web site firm sales for six-months ending June 30 reach $974,000 with losses of $2.9 million. 1997 sales are $1.1 million with $7.8 million loss. On a $4 million annualized sales basis we think EarthWeb could see just under Go2Net (NASDAQ:GNET) valuation.

  • Justballs! gets a first-round investment from David Wetherell, CEO of CMG. It plans on selling, yep, just balls via the Web. Sounds kind of funny today but so did selling books over the Web, an idea we hear Wetherell had before Amazon.com four years ago.

  • GeoCities IPO may price Monday August 10 and begin trading Tuesday. See today’s Internet Stock Report and August 6 edition for more analysis.
