iPad 2 Buzz Builds Ahead of Apple Event

The invitations are out. The date and location are set. And the great guessing game has begun.

Apple is famously secretive about its product announcements, but ahead of next week’s event in San Francisco, a consensus among company watchers is building that the iPad 2 will be the guest of honor.

Apple’s invitation reads, cryptically enough: “Come see what 2011 will be the year of.”

And judging by the instant success of Apple’s iPad, a device that has inspired a slew of imitators, it might be fair to call 2010 the year of the tablet. A new survey from ABI Research attributed 93 percent of all tablet sales to Apple.

There is also some speculation that Apple might refresh its MacBook Pro line of notebooks next week.

Separately, Apple shareholders voted down a measure to force the company publish its CEO succession plans. Enterprise Mobile Today takes a look.
