The surfCONTROL division of JSB Software Technologies plc gained a U.S. partner in sales and e-commerce leader Sunset Direct, of Austin, Texas.

Sunset Direct will be the first major sales and marketing partner for the UK developer of Internet monitoring, management and filtering products.

“This partnership will enable us to have an ‘instant’ sales channel and get software more rapidly into the hands of CIOs and MIS managers across the U.S.,” said Steve Purdham, SurfCONTROL president.

“SurfCONTROL is a perfect fit for Sunset’s volume buyers,” commented Larry Norris, president and COO of Sunset Direct. “Our customers have repeatedly asked for a product that can both gauge and control employee use of the Internet. We’ll help JSB get immediate access to accounts and people they would otherwise take years to make inroads with.”

SurfCONTROL software addresses employers’ concerns about productivity losses, legal liability, security risks and the impact on network infrastructure caused by employees who browse non-business related Internet sites. It helps managers to implement appropriate Internet access policies.

JSB was the prime architect of the Windows Sockets standard. The experience of working on Windows Sockets, said the vendor, led directly to the development of surfCONTROL.
