[Toronto, CANADA] Nascent millionaire Richard Hatch of the CBS hit series Survivor might have
endured insufferable weather conditions and intolerable tests of endurance, but
the cast of The Lofters is about to face the ultimate challenge – having one’s
every move broadcast on a 24/7 Internet channel.
After weeks of searching, auditioning and online voting, U8TV has selected eight
Canadian twentysomethings – four men and four women – to comprise the cast of
the 24/7 Internet channel U8TV.com. Selected from a national casting call of
over 700 applicants, these questionably lucky Lofters are comprised of a vixen, a
supermodel, a heartthrob, a conscience, an artiste, a rebel, a dude and a hipster.
Beginning in mid-January, these eight men and women will begin their lives as
Lofters on www.U8TV.com in a fully wired loft, under 24-hour surveillance for
an entire year. Viewers will be able to watch, chat and interact with the Lofters
and see three hours of live, online programming the Lofters will be hosting every
day. The program guarantees no secrets, no hiding places and no rehearsals.
Daily highlights from U8TV.com will be featured in the new series U8TV: The
Lofters airing Monday to Saturday during the primetime Real Life Stories
programming block, beginning January 15 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on Life Network.
