Lufthansa Signs on for Boeing’s Connexion Service

Jun 18, 2001

Germany’s Lufthansa Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Boeing, making it the international launch customer for Connexion by Boeing, the aerospace giant’s new airborne high-speed Internet service.

Under the agreement, Lufthansa will install the service on a DLH 747 aircraft for a three-month development program. The airline then plans to install the service on its entire intercontinental fleet.

“Lufthansa is strengthening its network by creating value for the passengers and offering new, state of the art onboard broadband services on long distance jets,” said Wolfgang Mayrhuber, member of the executive board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and chief executive officer of Passenger Airlines.
