Market Shows Slight Rise, Some Profit Taking

The broad market continues to rise, albeit at a smaller move over yesterday’s interest rate cheers. The Dow, NASDAQ and ISDEX inch upward. Some profit taking in some of the market leaders but also a move up others. The current ISDEX value is 555.66 with a change of+1.51(+0.27%).

  • iVillage (NASDAQ:IVIL) climbs 11% to $55.75 on a series of news blips: 1) acquiring Online Psych; 2) it being one of 2Q’s biggest non-movers and 3) the pacific Stock Exchange will trade options on it.
  • Books-A-Million (NASDAQ:BAMM) soars 84% to $13 7/8 on 24 million share volume on a deal with Wal-Mart to supply the retail giant’s Web site bookselling services.
  • Go2Net (NASDAQ:GNET) acquires Authorize.Net for $77 million stock and $13.5 million cash. Authorize.Net processes credit card purchases and complements Go2Net’s free Web hosting site for businesses HyperMart. Another good move from the Go2Net team. Piece by piece making it come together.
