Microsoft PR Chief Aims to Settle a Few Scores

It seems everywhere you look, Microsoft is getting hammered in the media. Late to the cloud. Wedded to an outdated PC model. Fighting a losing battle in search.

Enough with the criticism, says Frank Shaw, the company’s vice president of corporate communications. Shaw, a self-proclaimed words guy, stepped out of his medium to offer a series of numerical data points to remind the snarky tech press and its constellation of pundits that yes, in fact, Microsoft still matters, and is doing very well, thank you very much. Datamation sorts through Shaw’s numbers, and offers a few that he might have forgotten to mention.


Frank X. Shaw, Microsoft’s corporate vice president for corporate communications, must be having a frustrating month.

With so many questions from the press about areas where Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) seems to be faltering, Shaw recently published a post for the Official Microsoft Blog that aimed to set the record straight – at least from the software giant’s viewpoint.
