Microsoft Pushes for IT Skills for Veterans

The Elevate America Veterans Initiative is taking another step forward. The effort, led by Microsoft, seeks to get U.S. military veterans hooked up with the IT skills employers are looking for — thereby increasing the country’s pool of IT workers while helping veterans better reintegrate into the workforce.


The program just began accepting proposals for a share of the millions Microsoft has pledged to the effort. Datamation takes a look.


Just over a year ago, Microsoft announced a three-year initiative to help veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan gain the technical skills needed to reintegrate into the job market.

Then in March, Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) announced it would soon begin entertaining proposals from organizations that want to take advantage of the program, known as the Elevate America Veterans Initiative.
