Paul Flessner, the senior vice president of Microsoft’s .NET Enterprise Server Division, has joined the board of directors at Avanade, the new joint venture between Microsoft and Andersen Consulting.

Flessner replaces Paul Maritz on Avanade’s board of directors. Maritz was formerly Group Vice President at Microsoft, and sat on Avanade’s board until his recent retirement

Avanade is a joint venture created by the Microsoft Corporation and
Andersen Consulting to build and deliver technology and Internet-based solutions based on the Microsoft enterprise platform.

The company has 11 offices in the U.S., Europe, and Asia-Pacific, with four new offices planned by the end of the first quarter of 2001.

“Avanade’s customers will absolutely benefit from the insight on Microsoft’s long term technology direction and access to the .NET Enterprise Server Division that Paul offers,” says Mitch Hill, CEO of Avanade. “We are delighted that he is joining our team.”

As senior vice president of the Microsoft .NET Enterprise Server Division, Flessner is driving the launch of seven new and updated products, including Exchange 2000 Server, SQL Server 2000, and BizTalk Server 2000.
