Network Solutions Inc. this week
got into the stats game by launching
NSOL.com/statistics, a new site
on which the Net registrar will feature figures on
who is registering what.

The stats will be updated on a monthly basis. Network Solutions created the
site to track the Net’s impact on the world’s economy.

In January 2000, the top 10 businesses buying Internet domain names included
photographers, attorneys, real estate, churches,
insurance, internet service, restaurants, physicians and surgeons, computer
software and accountants.

The top 10 repeat buyers in January 2000 included computer software, Net
services, real estate agents and agencies, computer system designers and
consultants, attorneys, computer and equipment dealers, advertising agencies
and counselors, new car dealers, insurance, and business management
consultants.

Last month, security software maker VeriSign (VRSN)
bought Network Solutions (NSOL)
for $21 billion to beef up its e-commerce services and products.
