Nokia, Jiangsu Telecom Ink Deal

[March 26-China] Telecom giant Nokia has announced that the company will supply China’s Jiangsu Telecom with equipment to wire nine cities within the province for broadband Internet access.

Terms of the deal have not yet been made public.

France’s Alcatel recently concluded a deal with Jiangsu’s main mobile operator, Jiangsu Mobile, to provide US$180 million worth of equipment to expand and upgrade the company’s GSM network.

Broadband Internet connection speeds through DSL lines can range up to 8 Megabits per second (MPS), but more commonly operate at around 1.5 MPS.
