Oracle’s Ellison Touts Fusion, Slams Salesforce

What do Oracle and Apple have in common? Aside from deep pockets and an imposing market share, they have CEOs who are fond of solutions that offer integrated software and hardware.

Speaking atOracle’s OpenWorld conference, CEO Larry Ellison compared his company’s new Exalogic product to Apple’s iPhone, saying both are “engineered the right way.” Ellison also had some choice words for competitors like Salesforce and SAP.

SAN FRANCISCO — Oracle CEO Larry Ellison has at least two things in common with his close friend Steve Jobs: his new found love of integrated hardware and software systems, and a ready willingness to diss competitors.

Ellison displayed both attributes during his keynote address here late Wednesday afternoon at his company’s Oracle OpenWorld conference.
