RealNetworks announced a
new suite of tools for creating streaming media on the Internet.
It includes the RealPresenter Plug-in for use with Microsoft PowerPoint 97,
a new version (5.1) of RealPublisher, and a RealPublisher Plug-in for use
with Adobe Premiere.
“These tools enable anyone to create and publish compelling streaming media
in minutes,” said Phil Barrett, senior VP, Media Systems, RealNetworks.
Matt Douglas, Adobe Premiere product manager at Adobe, added: “Adobe
Premiere users are very excited about the RealPublisher Plug-in, as it will
enable them to re-purpose their video content for the Web.”
For the first time, users of the RealPresenter Plug-in will be able to stream
audio-narrated PowerPoint 97 presentations over the Internet–enabling
people anywhere in the world to view them on Windows, Macintosh, and
UNIX RealPlayer 5.0 clients. Presentions can be sent as attachments to
e-mail, or streamed off a Web server or a RealNetworks RealServer.
RealPublisher provides one-click publishing of streaming audio and video files
to any ISP personal page or Web server. In the latest version there are new
wizards that make the publishing of streaming media especially easy. For
advanced users, RealPublisher offers live broadcasting to RealServers, plus
“bandwidth negotiation” facilities that allow users to connect at different
speeds.
Among the new features of the RealPublisher Premiere Plug-in for use with
Adobe Premiere are advanced authoring capabilities, plus a preview mode
that allows video editors to view embedded content.
The new suite of tools is available immediately from the vendor’s Web site.
