REALTOR.com Forges Alliance With Excite

In what marks the latest in a series of deals involving online real-estate resources, REALTOR.com announced a multi-year, multi-million dollar agreement today to feature its service on Excite.


According to REALTOR.com, its offerings will reach across Excite’s flagship services including WebCrawler, Classifieds2000 and the
portions of Netscape’s Netcenter
programmed by Excite. In each case, REALTOR.com becomes the exclusive
provider of existing homes for sale
by brokers on the real estate channels of these sites.


Financial specifics were not disclosed.


“By partnering with REALTOR.com, Excite can now offer a deeper
level of real estate services to its customers worldwide,” said Ken
Wachtel, senior vice president of Advertising Sales at Excite. “The
REALTOR.com offerings are an important part of Excite’s channel
strategy to deliver Web experiences that have a real-world impact on
our consumers’ everyday lives.”


Excite, WebCrawler, Classifieds2000 and Netscape Netcenter customers with now have access to REALTOR.com’s 1.2 million home listings and home buying services, the companies said.


The new relationship serves to further extend REALTOR.com’s reach on the Internet–the company also has a presence on Web portals AOL.com, Infoseek and Lycos.


Earlier this week Microsoft Corp. also announced plans to launch a real estate-related Web site, and AOL unveiled its Mortgage section in the online service’s Personal Finance Channel featuring financial software provider Intuit. Yahoo! recently jumped on the real estate bandwagon with the launch of Yahoo! Real Estate.
