Dotster Inc., a Kelso, Washington-based, ICANN accredited domain registrar, announced today that the company is now offering pre-registration of multilingual .com, .net, and .org domains.
Dotster’s pre-registration service allows customers the ability to place orders for multilingual domains that will be processed November 10 when official real-time registration is scheduled to begin.
The local Southern Washington company is one of the first registrars to provide this service, and will initially offer .com, .net, and .org domain names in Korean, simplified and traditional Chinese, and Japanese.
“Until now, many Internet users worldwide have been unable to register domains in their native languages,” says George DeCarlo, Dotster Chief Technology Officer. “The addition of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese domain names is a revolutionary step in the globalization of the Internet.”
Dotster will also add translation services to its site beginning November 10, allowing individuals and corporate customers alike to establish their Web presence in multiple languages by translating their English domain into the multilingual equivalent.
According to DeCarlo, the new domains will open up a whole new market for Dotster beginning with some of the fastest growing regions in terms of Internet usage. “Many of our international customers have been asking for multilingual domains, and we’re pleased to be one of the first registrars up and running with this service.”
