Online search provider Searchbutton.com unveiled the latest version of its namesake service Thursday at the Search Engine Strategies seminar in San Francisco.

Version 1.4 of the search tool is designed specifically for hosted Web sites that want to provide a search engine for their vitiators. The tool boasts no hardware or software to install and very little maintenance.

In addition to activity reports already offered in previous versions, the latest version includes multi-site administration, customization features and improved support for meta tags. It also features tools for Webmasters, such as preview placement of the search on the site and the ability to control site indexing.

“With Web sites growing in size and complexity, site search is a necessity not a
luxury,” said Nick Halsey, CEO and president of Searchbutton.com.
